I am based in Staveley, near Kendal, in the South Lake District area.
I offer free collection and drop off to my workshop and I operate as a mobile service in the local areas, allowing me to come to you. You can also find me at local markets and festivals.

Welcome and hello
I'm Luke, a self confessed geek and nerd to all things sharp. I am currently a registered Paramedic Practitioner working in Urgent Care, and use my sharpening skills as a means of a growing personal business and also therapy.

​I started learning sharpening axes, knives, and machetes 22 years ago when leading long term remote expeditions into the jungles of Central America, and Indonesia and Malaysia. From there I spent the next fifteen years honing my skills by using wet stones, diamond plates, files, and other hand tools.
In the last eight years I have slowly moved to grinders, belt sanders, buffers, and the like - and in the last year decided now is the time to start doing this professionally. Being a working Paramedic it only seemed sensible that the business name should allow me to become, the Edge Medic.​

​People use my services as they know the results are quick and effective - with long lasting edge retaining on my work. I like to discuss the plan with customers and with my nerd like enthusiasm, come up with a working plan that I know the customer will be pleased with.

I work with all sorts of tools and will have anyone who has dull kitchen implements, approach me for services - as well as top class chefs requiring restoration and sharpening of their personal tools. Gardeners, carpenters, and bushcraft practitioners with all manner of gouges, hook knives, chisels, drawknives, shears, loppers etc approach for services.
